AIDS Services for the
Monadnock Region
NAMED FINALIST IN NATIONAL TOYOTA 100 CARS FOR GOOD PROGRAM
Toyota to Donate Vehicle to Local Nonprofit Organizations Based on Public
Votes
(Keene, NH) AIDS Services for the Monadnock Region, the
AIDS service organization located in Gilsum, NH that covers the southwestern
corner of the state, is one of 500 finalists in Toyota’s 100 Cars for Good
program, which will award vehicles to 100 nonprofit organizations based on votes
from the public beginning May 9, 2011.
Toyota’s 100 Cars for Good program will showcase five non-profit organizations
each day for 100 days on Toyota’s Facebook page,
facebook.com/toyota.
AIDS Services will be one of the five organizations highlighted for voting on
Thursday, June 2, 2011. Visitors to the page can vote once for the
organization they feel is most deserving of a new Toyota vehicle.
Agency supporters are encouraged to vote for AIDS Services and their quest for a
new Toyota. If AIDS Services receives the most votes and is awarded the vehicle,
it will be used to help clients with medical and dental appointments in NH and
MA, food pantry visits, and as a loaner vehicle for clients who are experiencing
difficulty with transportation.
According to Arne Grandell, agency Board Chair, “In rural New Hampshire,
transportation is always an issue. Unlike more urban centers, public transport
doesn’t exist in outlying villages and towns. For people living on a limited
fixed income, owning a car can be cost-prohibitive, not to mention the rising
cost of gas. We’ll put this vehicle to very good use in many different ways. I’m
proud that we’re the only AIDS service organization to make the NH finalist pool
and the only agency outside of central NH. The four other NH nonprofits in the
finalist round are the NH Food Bank, Girls Inc. of NH and Families in Transition
in Manchester, and Granite State Independent Living in Concord.”
Each applicant was asked to make a 2-minute video about their need for a new
Toyota. The link to AIDS Services’ video is
