On Saturday, April 24 at the Cheshire Arena, AIDS Services for the Monadnock Region (ASMR) will present Keene’s first roller derby league, the Elm City Derby Damez, in "Booty Blocks & Toe Stops" featuring special guests Miss Kitty Litter and Miss Krystal Kenzington of Providence. Keene resident Jared Goodell will announce. Evening includes the introduction, "Talk Derby To Me," warm-up exercises that test the skill and patience of participants, and an exhibition scrimmage. Lucky raffle winners will be invited to skate laps with the Damez and special guests.
Although a relatively new team, the Derby Damez have a large following locally and throughout New England. For information about Derby Damez team members visit www.elmcityderbydamez.com and DerbyDamez on Facebook for bios and merchandise.
Miss Kitty Litter, otherwise known as Stephen Hartley, Development Director of AIDS Care Ocean State in Providence, Rhode Island first began raising money for worthy causes at the age of 8 with The Jerry Lewis Telethon. Many years later, the amount of money he has raised for a wide range of causes has reached over $700,000. Kitty has been on the fundraising circuit in drag for 12 years assisting many agencies throughout New England, including ASMR, as performer and providing auctioneering and emcee skills. Kitty's motto is, "I give til it hurts," and she expects the same from everyone else.
Miss Krystal Kenzington was Miss Rhode Island Gay Pride 2006 and has joined Kitty Litter on the stage at numerous fundraising events, including ASMR's. Krystal is an account executive at the Bank of America in Providence.
At age 18, Jared Goodell has significant experience in announcing and radio broadcasting. This year he served as the Keene High School basketball announcer and traveled with the True Value Modified auto racing services throughout the summer of 2008.
