"Night to Remember" AIDS Benefit in Manchester January 22 and 23
19 01 10 - 11:30
Over 30 items will be raffled at the fundraising event, "Night To Remember" held on Friday, January 22 and Saturday, January 23 at The Element Lounge, (www.elementlounge.net) New Hampshire's hottest alternative night club, 1055 Elm Street, Manchester. Female impersonators Laisha and Britney will serve as hostesses and perform each night. Gift certificates include items such as hotel stays, restaurants, limo service, salon/spa amenities and many more from business locations throughout New England.
Proceeds benefit AIDS Services for the Monadnock Region, serving people living with HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C in southwestern New Hampshire, with client case management, prevention education and outreach, HIV/AIDS housing and an extensive food pantry.
The agency provides the only HIV+ housing program in the state, founded in 2006. The Cleve Jones Wellness House, named after AIDS Memorial Quilt founder Cleve Jones, is located in a three-story, 1830s structure which is truly home to HIV+ persons who wish to live in community and understanding while undergoing the daily trials and tribulations of the disease. Most recently the agency was victorious after experiencing a 3-year discrimination battle with the town. Legal representation was provided by GLAD (www.glad.org), and the successful outcome will improve the future for people everywhere living with HIV/AIDS if they face housing discrimination.
Event begins at 8pm. Raffle tickets will be sold both evenings with prizes drawn at 12 midnight on Saturday, January 23. Patrons need not be present to win.
