AIDS Services for the Monadnock Region (ASMR), founded in 1989, is a non-profit organization commited to serving people living with HIV/AIDS in Cheshire County, southern Sullivan County and western Hillsborough County. We offer case management, free, anonymous HIV testing in a confidential setting, educational programs, HIV+ speakers and 200+ volumes in our lending library.
On October 30, President Barack Obama signed the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Treatment Extension Act into law, authorizing a 5 percent increase in federal support for HIV programs during the next four years. He also separately will issue an order on Monday lifting a 1987 ban on foreigners with AIDS entering the country.

Gloria Reuben, actress, singer and social activist, will speak at an forthcoming ASMR function. She has appeared in ER and Raising the Bar along with a number of TV movies/mini-series. Hedda Lettuce, acclaimed Comedienne and Actress, performed at the Keene Best Western on October 16th. She entertained the audience with her wit and musical skill for almost 2 hours. Bravo TV was also present to film for a reality segment on Hedda.

The Steering Committee for this Peer Review found, that there were opportunities for improved prioritization of efforts and for enhanced leadership on the part of the CDC. The Committee expressed a strong concern that DHAP should have been engaging in a more strategic variety of activities to better serve current needs and anticipated future trends. They expressed reservations of the current process through which Division and Branch priorities were set as well as how scientific data from surveillance, behavioral and biomedical research and program evaluation translated into program and research priorities. The Steering Committee also questioned whether current priorities were the most appropriate for the existing and future contributions of the CDC to the HIV prevention needs of the United States. .
