CALL FOR YOUTH AND ADULT AUDITIONS for Keene Karaoke IDOL
If it’s summer in Keene, then it’s time for the Keene Karaoke IDOL! Amateur
Competition, benefiting AIDS Services for the Monadnock Region (ASMR). For the
purposes of this event, “amateur” is defined as a person who engages in
performing karaoke as a hobby rather than as a sole profession.
Contestants need not be residents of Keene to participate.
Adults ages 15+ audition on Friday, June 10 and Friday, June 17 at McCue’s,
Emerald Street, Keene. Pre-registration urged; register on-site 6:00p; auditions
7-9p. Payment of non-refundable $40 registration fee guarantees one chance to
audition and can be paid with VISA/Master Card by calling 603-357-6855.
Contestants may audition on both nights, with the higher score counting toward
finalist consideration, and bring their own music.
New this year is a Youth component to IDOL. Youth ages 7-14 audition Saturday,
June 18 at Heberdon Hall, Winter Street, Keene (next to the Keene public
library.) Pre-registration urged; register on-site 12:30p; auditions 1-4p.
Payment of non-refundable $25 registration fee guarantees one chance to audition
and can be paid with VISA/Master Card by calling 603-357-6855. It is recommended
that youth contestants bring their own CD.
Pre-registered contestants will audition first. Adult contestants will be
narrowed to 25 finalists who will advance to the elimination rounds. Youth
contestants will be narrowed to 8 finalists who will advance to the elimination
rounds. Notification of adult and youth finalists will occur no later than June
20.
The event is scheduled over five consecutive weeks: July 8, 15, 22, 29 and
finale on August 5. Adults compete each week. Youth compete in weeks 3, 4 and 5
only. Contestants must be able to participate in each week of competition as
required.
DJ Aime Theroux; Judges Ted McGreer, Steve Pro and Jen Bond joined each week by
a Mystery Judge from the audience. Grand prize $1000, second prize $750, third
prize $500. Audience members vote at each adult elimination round to determine
the $250 Audience Favorite Award. Judges choose youth finalists, but audience
members choose youth grand prize winner.
