CALL FOR AUDITIONS for Keene Karaoke IDOL! V on June 12, 19, 26
If it's summer in Keene, then it's time for the 5th annual Keene Karaoke
IDOL! Amateur Competition, benefiting AIDS Services for the Monadnock Region (ASMR).
The age limit has been dropped to 15 in order to provide a performance
opportunity for younger singers. For the purposes of this event, "amateur" is defined as a person who engages in performing karaoke as an occasional hobby rather than as a sole profession.
Elimination rounds and auditions will be held at the Moose Lodge, Park Ave in Keene. Auditions are slated for Thursday June 12, 19 and 26 starting at 7p. Pre-registration is urged, but registration at door beginning at 6:30p will be accepted. Payment of non-refundable $40 registration fee guarantees chance to audition and can be paid with VISA or Master Card by calling 603-357-6855. The event runs for four consecutive weeks: July 11, 18, 25 and finale August 1. Contestants must be able to participate in all events if accepted.
Contestants who have pre-registered will audition first. Contestant pool
will be narrowed to 25 finalists who will advance to the elimination rounds where audience members vote nightly. These votes will be compiled exclusively for the Audience Favorite Award. The IDOL Finale will occur on Friday, August 1 with the awarding of a $1250 grand prize award, $750 second prize, $500 third prize and Audience Favorite award of $250.
Parker Springfield will serve as Emcee. Springfield is Operations Manager for Great Eastern radio (WGXL, WXXK, WTSL, WTPL, and WVRR) including Keene's only locally owned and operated radio station 101.9 K-Rock. Judges include Ted McGreer, five-year alum and owner of Ted's Shoe and Sport; Shana Stack, three-time judge who has earned country music acclaim at the state and national level; and Steve Pro, front-man with the Tom Foolery Band who returns for his second year. Webmaster for the fifth time is David Teubner, owner of KeeneOnline (www.keeneonline.com/idol). Karaoke music will be provided by Patrick Callinan of High Note Productions (HNP) with over 50,000 digital songs in their library (www.highnoteproductions.com).
Corporate sponsors include KeeneOnline, The Keene Sentinel, and Monadnock Radio Group. Contact AIDS Services for more information about sponsorship opportunities at susan.macneil@asmronline.org.
Doors open at 6:00p, show begins at 7p. Admission $10/person; tables
